Note: This is my modified version of the recipe that Modern Times posted to the BeerSmith database.
I loved this beer when I had a can a few months so I emailed the brewery and after a few weeks they responded with the link to the recipe on the BeerSmith database, which I thought was awesome. And I see they post a bunch of recipes on there. I just brewed this up yesterday, so I won't know for a few weeks how it came out, but if it's half as good as theirs I will be happy.
Things I changed were:
- I used 2nd gen Conan yeast since I had some from a previous batch. They don't even specify what they use though I'm assuming Cal. Ale or San Diego Super would work well.
- I changed the efficiency to match my system.
- I moved their flameout hops to whirlpool additions. I did half the additions at 190F for 30 mins and half at 160F for 30 mins. Not sure if that will make a difference, but it's what I wanted to try.
- Dry hop will be split into 2. One dry hop in primary for 5-7 days. One in keg suspended in bag hanging from the top.
- I increased both the flameout and dry hop addition amounts. I kept the same ratios of each hop, but increased the total flameout hops to 3 oz and the total dry hops to 6 oz (again, but split in half).
- I increased the hop extract to 15 ml to target ~125 IBUs (it will be a little more, but I wanted to use whole numbers of the extract).
Water profile I targeted:
Ca 129
Mg 18
Na 24
SO4 300
Cl 47
pH 5.4
