American Pale Ale recipe - after 14 days fermenting, thick yeast cake on top. All grain brew. Does it look infected? It doesn't smell off and tastes better than previous batches. Any advice?
This is my first brew in our new HERMS 200l system. first time using all our new equipment.. Some second hand.
Brew was an American Pale Ale recipe full grain. After 14 days in the fermenter, this yeast cake is still sitting on top and isn't looking too appetizing. The smell and taste however are great. When testing a sample there is still far too many floaties too. Beer doesn't seem to have settled like it usually does.
I am new to brewing and haven't come across this before. There is no sulpher smell and infact tastes better that all my previous batches of the same recipe. Could I have added to much yeast? FG is on 1010 and now stable.
Any suggestions or similar experiences one could share? Thanks
