    Getting Started Kegging

I’ve exclusively bottled all of my beers, but would like to look into Kegging. That being said, I’d like to get started with a budget-friendly approach. What are some budget-friendly recommendations for Kegging equipment? I.e., what are the essential items I’ll need? Tips in general are also...

    Airlock Sniffin’

What did you sniff through an airlock today? Düsseldorf Altbier for me. Brewed it up yesterday afternoon, makes my heart happy to see that little bobber jumping up and down. Beautiful copper color and malt aroma is on point!

    Bottle Conditioning a Saison

How long would be considered the minimum length of time for conditioning a bottled Saison? I’ve got a couple of batches using Belle Saison and one using BE-134 that I just packaged a few days ago. Was planning on giving them 3 weeks minimum.

    Safale S-33 Experience

I purchased a three-pack of this yeast a while back because (1) it was a good deal and (2) I wanted to experiment using it. After doing some research post-purchase, I learned that a lot of folks have strong opinions about it. While it is labeled as being ideal for Belgian-style ales, a lot of...

South Carolina Pee Dee Brewers (Florence, Hartsville, etc.)

I’ve been brewing for several months now, but I’m not aware of any active homebrewing clubs in my area (Florence County). Posting here to see if there are any other brewers in the Pee Dee region on this forum. Would be awesome to have a club start back up at one of the breweries in Florence or...

    Brewing a Wild Fermentation Beer

I posted a similar thread in the general discussion, but ended up getting more feedback critiquing my verbiage and questions than answers. Maybe I posted in the wrong forum; I apologize if so 😆 Going to try and be as clear as possible for anyone willing to offer advice. Please do not respond to...

    Brewing a Spontaneous Beer

I’ve been fascinated recently by the concept of brewing a spontaneous (wild?) beer that is inoculated with wild yeast. I’d like to try and get a batch started before the air gets warmer and gunked up. Does anyone have any resources you’d recommend for further research? Possibly even a base wort...

    Sulfur Smell at Bottling Time

I bottled a British Mild a couple days ago that had a sulfuric aroma when I cracked open the fermenter. I went ahead and finished bottling since it actually had a decent taste, but I had a couple of questions to run by y’all: 1. What causes sulfuric aromas in the first place? 2. Do these...

    How Long in Fermenter

What benefits are there to keeping a brew in the fermenter after fermentation has completed? I’ve noticed that some see more of a benefit from bottle aging than others, so curious if there’s a similar benefit from staying in the fermenter for longer.

    Preferred Bottles for Mead

What are your preferred bottling methods for mead making? I started brewing beer recently, and had considered bottling mead in the same 12 oz bottles. Well, not with beer in them too, of course… 😉

    Favorite Online Home Brewing Supplier

While I would much prefer to buy supplies regularly from a local business, my closest LHBS is a bit of a drive. I’ve made an online purchase from MoreBeer and was pleased with their quality and prices/delivery speed. What are your preferred online retailers? I’ve found a handful (Adventures in...

    Small Batch Lagering Equipment

I’m still cutting my teeth on ales, but hope to take a crack at a lager at some point in the near future. What recommendations do you all have for an economical lagering environment? I was considering purchasing a mini-fridge to do 1 gallon batches in, but wanted to see what others may have used.

    Brewing Frequency

I thought I’d chalk this up to my excitement of starting a new hobby, but I'm curious: how frequently do the rest of you brew? I’m doing smaller batches, but I’m currently averaging about one a week. Curious if my frequency is typical or, shall we say, obsessive 🙂

    Best Small Batch Fermenters

New brewer here. At the risk of sounding like I’m asking a dumb question, any recommendations (or cautions) on small batch (1-3 gallon) fermenters? I’ve got carboys and a Fermonster, but I’m wondering if there are other vessels you all have had success with in the past. I like to have multiple...

Something You Wish You’d Started Doing Sooner (in Home Brewing)

Hi all, new brewer here. I fully anticipate that there’s a similar thread or two with this kind of theme, so please feel free to point me towards any other resource you know would be helpful. I’m the kind of person who dives in headfirst when he discovers a new interest or hobby, and home...

Hi all, new brewer here from SC. Got a home brew kit for Christmas, didn’t take long for me to get hooked. I kept visiting this forum so much for tips, it only made sense to become a member. Excited to continue learning!
