    Canned beer storing temperature?

Hop flavors tend to dissipate more quickly if beer is stored hot, at least according to a couple of articles I’ve come across, so sweeter might be likely. Taste is highly subjective; not everyone’s tastebuds taste things the same. One of the articles I read described a blind taste test of two...

    Canned beer storing temperature?

One “rule of thumb” which I’ve come across, from various sources, is that beer stored at higher temps will age as much in a month as the same beer, refrigerated, will age in a year. At the temps the OP has mentioned he’s still going to have beer in a month, it just won’t taste the same as it...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Yesterday, actually, but it was the start of the weekend. Brewed an American Wheat Ale with my SIL. He’s done some brewing in the past but, with a demanding job and a side gig to keep him busy, he doesn’t have a lot of spare time. He enjoys having half a day, or so, to not have anything to think...

    What are you drinking now?

Kettlehouse IPA. “Double Haul” is what some fly fishers call a particularly long cast. Most of the brewery’s beer names are references to the kinds of outdoor activities common in NW Montana. Anyway, this is a British style IPA and I like it.

    Favorite of experienced brewers.

Brewing for 12 years. I don’t have one favorite style but I usually have something fizzy and yellow (Blonde Ale, Cream Ale, basic American Lager), something maltier (Altbier, Amber Ale, Scottish Ale), and something dark (Porter or Stout) in my rotation. I don’t brew a lot of hoppy beers but will...

    What are you drinking now?

Kettlehouse Mosaic IPA. Mosaic is one of my favorite hops. Part of a four beer variety pack; they were cheaper if you bought two. I bought two. 😎

    What are you drinking now?

HB IPA, bottled last June, courtesy of Max Stout. He left a few bottles of HB when he and Mrs. Stout were our guests last summer when they were on their way to Alaska. This one got pushed to the back of the fridge. It’s held up very well.

    Northern Lights

That’s what we were seeing at about the same time (0100 here). I kicked myself for leaving my digital camera at the city house. I’ve never had much luck with a smartphone camera and nighttime sky photos.

    Northern Lights

In the last hour the display has moved from just above the northern horizon to far south of us (48.9° North). In 60+ years of living in the northern latitudes I don’t think I’ve ever seen an aurora as far south as it is right now. It should be visible at least as far south as I-80. Quite...

    Northern Lights

Anyone still up at this hour and near, or north of, the Canadian border, and is in an area where the skies are clear and there’s no light pollution, might want to take a look at the northern horizon. The Aurora Borealis, AKA northern lights, are putting on a show. It’s not as spectacular as some...
