So I grew up a yeast starter last week, but life got in the way and I wasn't able to brew. The starter has been sitting in my fridge with foil on top for the past week or so. If I can brew this weekend, I'm assuming I'm good to pitch?
Kegged a Cider and am holding it a 25 or so psi. I have it running through 40' of AccuBev line and am getting some serious foam. top of the keg to the top of the tap handle is about 2' tops. Holding my keezer at about 38.
What gives?
Also, if you are brewing on a stovetop, you might look into a 'Partial Mash'. This is using extract + speciality grains. You'll need much less equipment/space this way. Austin Homebrew makes some great kits (just about any beer style) for partial mash brewing. They will ship you everything...
Sounds like you may have forgotten to sparge. Check out the boards, there are two methods - batch sparge and fly sparge. Basically, you'll drain the grain bed and then add additional hot water to "rinse" the grains. You will get a lot more wort this way.
