After maybe 15 brews I took apart 3 ball valves and looked inside.
What I found wasn't horrifying but there was some dark stuff that needed to be cleaned.
One was worse than the others. Soaked for 24 hours and brushed most off.
What I'm wondering is, should I lube the teflon fittings when i...
This is an awesome story.
Good for you and anyone else who is diving in. I brewed 1 kit and started making my own 5 gallon recipe designs. Self trained and 250+ gallons later, trial and error, the knowledge and confidence have risen. The biggest jump was when i put together a 1 BBL electric...
Knowing you all are right and to error on the side of caution is the smart choice, this chipped 6 gallon carboy will be retired.
I have already purchased a 7 gal chronical and am looking at a 15 gal. The 7 gal plastic Speidel is only a back up, as I don't like plastic.

OG 1.058
It began bubbling yesterday with Nottingham yeast and seems to be happy. It had
Mosaic hop pellet additions at 6m but i want to add these fresh hops so I'm thinking
of upon transfer of fermented wort into...
Anyways, OG was 1.043 and FG today was 1.010 for about 4.4 ABV.
I put this 5 gallons in a corny keg today and carbed.
They aren't hoppy so I'm guessing they will be for micheladas.
Got another 10 gallons to send to cornys tomorrow.
One will be a mango and the other I'm not sure yet.
