Avangard is harder to get out here in the West. It's mostly Weyerman and Bestmaltz available which are still good but I've always liked Avangard. I wish it was more available here. I'm sure you probably sell a lot of it.

$92 would of been what is expected from the East but instead I was quoted somewhere around $180 for shipping alone. As said before it's quite possible a calculation error. You may want to take a closer look at your shipping calculator and check for accuracy.

I'm coming a little late to this thread. I do think Brewhardware is indeed a very cool shop! But as I remember before were the shipping costs. I've read a few of the other posts that say that actual shipping costs are not calculated until you actually go to pay but to be perfectly honest I was...
During the pandemic I got use to not going out and therefore not having to tip. It actually felt pretty dang good. This whole tipping business has gotten so out of control. Now they hound you for a tip on a carry out pizza! I can see tipping on a delivery because the driver is using his own car...
One thing I found is that Lutra Kveik taste so much more cleaner when yeast nutrient is added. Only then did I brew what I thought was a so called "pseudo lager". I made a Vienna lager that was just superb with it. As far as Voss goes, I sometimes use it on an English style blonde ale recipe...
Good to hear! So for now those who really want the discontinued Lallemand Koln this may be the way to go. I'll definitely be considering doing this the next time I decide to use it on a Kolsch recipe.

I agree, I've never had any bad results from making a starter from dry yeast. The only cons I can think of is whether or not it's worth it cost wise after you factor in the cost of DME and the time spent because dry yeast can usually be bought pretty cheap. And also you will need to oxygenate...
Lately I've been using Novalager on my Kolsch recipes. Although it doesn't taste like a true Kolsch you would get in Cologne, it produces a very good beer and because of numerous requests I have continued to brew it over again. It seems like it has a slight blueberry like ester. For some reason...
Is there any reason why Lallemand Koln yeast can't be reproduced by making a starter and banking it? I know it's not recommended to make a starter with dry yeast but I still have a couple packets of Koln yeast left and I could try making a large starter and reproducing it. I did an experiment...
I live in a small little town located in Southern California in the Inland Empire, famous for it's DUIs. I quickly learned that drinking beer is a privilege that I don't want to lose. I have some friends who's lives have been ruined because of alcohol and the police who can't drink at all. They...
I've found that one of the most important things about cleaning products when it come to brewing is how well it rinses out and if it's cleaning abilities are even useful for our use. It sounds like it would be okay but another point is whether it is advisable to mix with the other chemicals.
