Avangard is harder to get out here in the West. It's mostly Weyerman and Bestmaltz available which are still good but I've always liked Avangard. I wish it was more available here. I'm sure you probably sell a lot of it. DMF

I agree, I've never had any bad results from making a starter from dry yeast. The only cons I can think of is whether or not it's worth it cost wise after you factor in the cost of DME and the time spent because dry yeast can usually be bought pretty cheap. And also you will need to oxygenate...

Usually when I split dry packets I will store the unused portion in a 10 gram cosmetic jar in the refrigerator. Never had a problem doing this. DMF

I've heard from a couple of forums that Mangrove Jack's M54 dry yeast is the same as Koln yeast. Have yet to see but maybe worth a try. DMF

I've found that one of the most important things about cleaning products when it come to brewing is how well it rinses out and if it's cleaning abilities are even useful for our use. It sounds like it would be okay but another point is whether it is advisable to mix with the other chemicals. DMF
